Cupboard Skincare - Pampering on a Budget 🧼

Looking your best doesn't have to cost the earth 🚫🌍

You don't need to spend your hard earned cash (or student loan) on expensive, 'high-end' skincare - you can make your own from the comfort of your own home. You might even have some of the ingredients in your cupboards right now!

Face It

Sweet Sugar Face Scrub

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup brown sugar 🟫
  • 3 tablespoons honey 🍯
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil (or almond, coconut - you choose!) πŸ«’

Mix the sugar and honey together into a thick paste, then add the oil to the mixture and combine. Apply to your face and neck, leave it on for 5 - 10 minutes, and rinse with warm water. If you have any left over, you can use it anywhere on the body - great for elbows, knees, heels.

The sugar is a fantastic natural exfoliant - but beware, if you have sensitive skin you will want to skip this recipe as the sugar might be a bit too rough for you.

Anti-Ageing Cocoa Face Mask

Ingredients:

  • 1 tablespoon cocoa powder 🟫
  • 1 tablespoon sour cream ⬜
  • 1 tablespoon honey 🍯
  • 1 egg white πŸ₯š

Β Combine all the ingredients together, apply to your face and let it dry before rinsing!

The lactic acid in the sour cream hydrates and gently exfoliates, and the protein in the egg white helps to tighten the skin.

Cool AsΒ A Cucumber Eye Mask

Ingredients:

  • One cold cucumber πŸ₯’
  • Paper towel 🧻

Grate the cucumber over a paper towel. Once you've finished grating, roll it up like a fajita or burrito (whichever you find easier🌯) and compress it.  Find somewhere relaxing to sit, rest your head back, and apply the wrap to closed eyes!

The coolness of the cucumber will help depuff your eyes, and calm and sooth the delicate eye area. It's also a great way to help alleviate the effects of allergies.

Oh Honey Lip Mask

Ingredients:

  • 1 teaspoon coconut oil πŸ₯₯
  • 1 teaspoon raw honey 🍯
  • 2 tablespoons raw sugar ⬜
  • Dash lemon juice πŸ‹

Combine all the ingredients in a bowl and gently apply the mixture in a circular motion to your lips. Rinse it off, and apply your favourite lip balm!

Yoghurt, Lemon & Orange Moisturiser

Ingredients:

  • 250g plain yoghurt πŸ₯›
  • 1 tablespoon orange juice 🍊
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice πŸ‹

Mix all the ingredients together in a bowl and apply to your face with your hands or aΒ  cotton pad. Leave it on for one or two minutes, and wash off with warm water.

Hands On

Nourishing Milk Hand Soak

Ingredients:

  • 3 cups whole milk πŸ₯›

Pour the milk into a microwavable bowl and heat until it's warm. Pop your hands in and soak for 5 - 10 minutes.

Vitamins A and E will help to nourish dry skin.

Cutesy Coconut Oil Cuticle Hydrator

Ingredients:

  • Coconut oil πŸ₯₯

Rub a little bit of coconut oil over each fingertip, cover in plastic, and let it sink in.

Citrusy Sweet Lemon and Sugar Hand Scrub

Ingredients:

  • 85g sugar ⬜
  • 32g coconut or olive oil πŸ₯₯
  • 1 lemon juice πŸ‹

Add the sugar and oil to a container (there'll be plenty left for use at a later time!), add the lemon juice and mix well until the consistency is like wet sand. Take some in your hands, rub together and rinse!

Stick Your Foot In It

Lovely Lemon Foot Peel

Ingredients:

  • 1 fresh lemon juice πŸ‹
  • Uncoated aspirin tablets πŸ’Š

Mix the ingredients together, rub onto the most callous parts of your feet, and wrap in plastic until your skin starts to peel.

Soothing Baking Soda Foot Soak

Ingredients:

  • Baking soda βšͺ
  • Warm water πŸ’§

Mix the two ingredients together in a large container, big enough for you to fit your feet into. Once mixed, pop your feet in and relax.

Simple Epsom Salt Foot Scrub

Ingredients:

  • Epsom salt πŸ§‚
  • Olive oil πŸ«’

Apply the ingredients to a bath sponge or your hand and rub onto wet feet.

Good Hair Day

Avo Hair Mask

Ingredients:

  • 1 egg yolk πŸ₯š
  • 1 teaspoon olive oil πŸ«’
  • 1 teaspoon honey 🍯
  • 1.5 avocado πŸ₯‘

Mix the egg yolk, oil and honey. Mash the avo in a bowl, then add to the rest of the mixture and mix. Apply to wet hair, starting at the ends and work your way up. Let it soak in for 15 - 20 mins, rinse, and shampoo.

Sweet Like Honey Hair Conditioner

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup honey 🍯
  • 4 tablespoon olive oil (you can use less if your hair is on the oily side) πŸ«’

Mix the ingredients together in a jug and add small amounts to your hair at a time. Cover your hair with a shower cap and leave for 30 minutes, then shampoo!

Refreshing Sugar Scalp Scrub

Ingredients:

  • 2 tablespoon olive oil πŸ«’
  • 3 tablespoon sugar ⬜

Combine the oil and sugar in a bowl and add to wet hair. Massage in a circular motion for around 5 minutes, rinse well and shampoo as normal.

Make sure you drink enough water to keep your skin hydrated, and use sunscreen when it's sunny to keep your skin protected! πŸ’§πŸŒž
